Ans-In India e-bikes are imported from China and sold without any design or material changes. ODYSSE adopted the same business model but realized that such bikes are not suitable for the Indian conditions. After years of R&D, ODYSSE redesigned the suspension, electronics, material Quality, motor etc. of e-bikes, suiting Indian climatic conditions and customer needs. ODYSSE models are moderately expensive because of their detailed material level changes, which are also its differentiator. ODYSSE vehicles come with a 3 year warranty, which reduces the total cost of ownership of an e-bike.

Ans- Adding gadgets and accessories is an external and easy task, which we can do any time. But, we do not want to increase unnecessary costs in the vehicle. Our focus is to increase the performance and efficiency of the vehicle by implementing detailed changes its powertrain, battery, motor, charger, electronic system etc. which are the heart and soul of the vehicle.

Ans-The engine of an e-bike outperforms other IC engines in their top speeds, acceleration, pickup etc. Therefore, offering speed in an e-bike is not a limitation of technology but depends on its design and features. Every e-bike has a optimum performance level, Driving above it adversely impacts the maintenance, range, vibration, heat etc. From our experience, the green zone in e- bikes lies between 40-50 km/h, and ensures the best output w.r.t input. Increasing the speed of an e-vehicle is easy, but it will either decrease the overall mileage as more power is consumed or we have to increases the size and cost of the battery by 1.5 – 2 times. Our vehicles are the ideal city vehicles that deliver best performance.

Ans-ODYSSE does not import all parts from China. However, we manufacture a couple of parts in Taiwan and China due to their low costs. Similarly, the materials used in our e-bikes are of high quality, and not Chinese. With time and favourable government policies, we are trying to manufacture more parts in India.

Ans-There’s a misunderstanding that disk brakes are better than drum brakes. The braking system depends on the requirements of the vehicle and factors like its weight, speed, aerodynamics etc. Low maintenance is the priority for an e-bike. They do not run on high speeds or have very short stopping, which is why they do not need such complex braking systems. Adding more disk brakes also increases the maintenance concerning its fluid, disk warping, sludge accumulation etc. ODYSSE vehicles have an optimized design whose braking systems are the best suited for an e-bike.

Ans-Lithium Ion Phosphate batteries in e-bikes are being used by manufacturers since last year. However, these batteries haven been banned in China and Chinese manufacturers are dumping them at low costs. Manufacturers with no long term goals are buying these batteries that have no follow up technology. Phosphate in batteries is not suitable for the automotive grade vehicles because of its weight, energy to density ratio, decreased acceleration and current drawing possibilities. ODYSSE has tested all kinds of cells and is using the best suited technology. ODYSSE builds reliable products with long term goals, and thus offer a 3 year warranty on its product.

Ans-If we compare an e-bike and a petrol bike over 3-5 years, the difference Is clear. For example, if your petrol scooter consumes 1.5 Litre petrol daily for 3 years, the total cost incurred will be INR 1,60,000 – 1,75,000. When you drive a ODYSSE bike, the petrol here is the battery which is guaranteed free for the 3 years due to ODYSSE’s warranty. Its charging cost for three years would be INR 15,000- 17,000 for 2000-2200 units of electricity. But, this cost of the customer is saved due to an e-bike’s low maintenance. Therefore, at the end of 3 years, customer saves around INR 1,50,000 with an eco-friendly e-bike.

Ans-Earlier E-bikes had a low resale value because they used majorly lead batteries. With Lithium Ion batteries, the resale value of an electric scooter is somewhere between 90% – 60% of a petrol scooter resell value, since the battery life is increased. The resale value of an electric scooter today depends upon the life of the battery remaining in it. The Fuel cost saving over the usage compensates for this within no time.

Ans- All our High speed products are suitable, fit and efficient for driving on slopes or hilly areas. However, the mileage will get substantially reduced when driven on upward sloping terrain.. Adding any accessories to the bike would mean reducing its mileage and increasing the power intake.

Ans-With a 3 year warranty on an e-bike, a customer gets comparable of 3 year worth free petrol. The maintenance costs for an e-bike are less as compared to a petrol vehicle. So, an e-bike user saves money on petrol and also earns a little extra due to low maintenance costs. In comparison to an average consumption of 1.5 litre petrol daily (assuming around 55 KM running daily), the savings for an e-bike user for 3 years is INR 1.5 lakh+. If charged alternate days, the battery of e-bikes last  about 5 years. Depending upon the model its cost may vary, starting from Rs.24000, which is a minor fraction of the savings made in the first three years. Moreover, the price of the lithium ion batteries are expected to reduce every year as volumes grow. Buying an electric vehicle means saving for a lifetime.

Ans-Fast charger have negative impact on the life and efficiency of the battery. We have already put the best charging curve in our vehicle and do not recommend fast charging. Fast charging impacts the reliability, predictability and life of the battery in the long run. Therefore most ideal charging time for a battery is 3-4 Hours.

Ans-One of the most important requirements of an electric vehicle is simplicity and low maintenance that comes with its fewer parts. In the ranges of speed that Odysse electric vehicles provide, the most important features are mileage and reliability. Features like ABS are mostly needed in high speed cars, and as soon as it is added in a vehicle, the maintenance & product cost goes up.

Ans-Using the kind of suspension depends on the design of the vehicle. Generally, a suspension support system from two sides helps in balancing the load better. Double shockers compensate for the shock coming in from both the sides. In a single suspension support system the load is shifted on the cantilever. Having a mono shock system doesn’t have any added advantage apart from space utilization.
